On a good night, in a good milonga, in Buenos Aires, you may feel the presence of El Tango. Almost everyone feels it when it happens, the energy of hearts connected. Dancers from all over the world converge on the milongas of Buenos Aires to experience the spirit of Tango. It is always with sadness that they depart for their native lands. The perception is widely held that while the level of dance may be high, the feeling of a Buenos Aires milonga is seldom experienced in other cities of the world.
Questions arise…..does El Tango travel outside of Buenos Aires? If the conditions are right will the spirit of Tango visit?
It seems unlikely that the elusive El Tango would drop into a milonga held in an old grange building in a small town well off the beaten track…….but maybe not impossible. We are committed to our best effort to create an environment where the miracle of heart connection can occur. It may be a fool’s errand, but it is not without value. If we focus on the path, not the goal, we get to hold each other, hear some great music and meet with friends old and new.
